What’s On This Autumn in Hampshire
Autumn Things To Do
The beauty of Autumn weddings in Hampshire
There’s something magical about Autumn in Hampshire. Could it be because of the autumn colours - golden, red & orange which are elegantly painted across the countryside? The refreshingly crisp air that leaves a warm fuzzy feeling inside? Or the intimate and cosy atmosphere of being tucked up indoors whilst watching the outdoors? Hampshire sets the most picturesque setting for any occasion, but especially for your wedding day.
Autumn at Oakley Hall is a true beauty that should not be missed. Our grand Georgian manor, which is nestled in the North Hampshire countryside, exudes grandeur and elegance whilst the surrounding gardens take you to a place of peace and serenity. Throughout the year, we get to watch the magical transition from season to season and we can’t deny that the shift from Summer to Autumn is our favourite. As October rolls around we welcome a breathtaking setting throughout our gardens, from a deeply coloured carpet made from golden leaves to a delicate blanket of rich oranges & reds laid across the tree lines – all of which make the most beautiful background for wedding photography for your autumn wedding in Hampshire.
And whilst the British weather is, let’s just say, unreliable during the Autumnal months – that shouldn’t pose a threat to hosting the most magical and picture-perfect autumn wedding of the year. If the sun is shining and the skies are blue, great! But if the weather is pouring down with rain or feeling chilly we will be fully prepared to help you still capture the beautiful pictures that you’ve been hoping for. Whether it be darting in and out during the dry spells or finding the perfect tree to shelter you during a downpour, you will get your special moments captured – we promise! In fact, the months of October, November, and December are included within our ‘Low Season’ dates, so prices will start from £125 per person (for a wedding in 2025) compared to £195 (for a wedding in 2025) for a ‘High Season’ date.
What to do in Hampshire during the Autumn time
With such an exciting season ahead, we have an even more exciting selection of events that you can choose to enjoy this autumn in Hampshire. We have handpicked our top favourite autumn activities which are spread across the entire county including the well-known New Forest, the historical city of Winchester and the local towns surrounding Basingstoke. We will also be hosting our annual Spooky Scavenger Hunt from Friday 18th October to Sunday 3rd November, through the half term, where you and your little ones can adventure into our gardens & woodlands to tick off items on your list, with a trick or treat at the end!
For our adult guests who are looking for something different to do during their visit to Hampshire in autumn, the Bombay Sapphire Distillery will be hosting two cinema nights throughout October with a Halloween theme, which includes a complimentary glass of G&T! There will also be two award-winning productions held at the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton during Autumn, Warhorse (8th – 19th October) and The Nutcracker Ballet (28th – 30th November). There’s a lot in store for our younger guests this autumn in Hampshire, including the Autumn Steam Gala and Wizard Week on the Watercress Line, a series of spectacular bird displays at the Hawk Conservancy Trust and the Science Spooktacular at the Winchester Science Museum. For those who want to explore further afield, there will be a selection of Halloween themed exhibitions at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and a range of outdoor Halloween themed activities, including a Canoe Treasure Hunt or Apocalypse Paint Balling in the New Forest.
Hampshire is home to some of the country’s most beautiful countryside, from dramatic coastlines to rolling hills. So if you’re looking for a staycation that is free from distractions, the Hampshire countryside is the place to go. We are located less than one hour from the closest beach, Weston Hard, and just a little further from Lee-On-The-Solent, Hill Head and Brownwich. Portsmouth is also less than an hour’s drive away. We are just a stone’s throw away from a range of beautiful walking routes, including in the New Forest and other local villages, so we strongly encourage you to grab your wellies (or borrow a pair of Hunters from Oakley Hall) and explore!
